Play High Quality videos on YouTube.com by default!

July 19, 2009

I’m always slightly annoyed when I have to click on the tiny ‘HQ’ button on YouTube videos, just to watch them reload and sometimes crap out.

Well, no more.  Today, I found in my account settings that I can change my preferences to always play High Quality (HD) video on YouTube.com.

Login > Account > Playback Setup
Select the third radio-button labeled “I have a fast connection. Always play higher-quality video when it’s available.”

Done.  Picture below.  My account name is myTUBULARTACOS, say hi sometime.

iPhone App, WiFi Disk, is worth the 2 bucks

July 19, 2009

I like the WiFi Disk iPhone app.

It’s simple and it works.  It’s turned my 3GS into a convenient 32GB “thumb drive” that I probably hopefully won’t lose.  And for only $1.99?  Yes, please.

Handy site for Sharepoint Log information…

July 16, 2009

I found this site helpful when looking for more information regarding MOSS 2007 logs. The author, Rai Umair, has also included two links to free Log Parsing software [Microsoft's Log Parser 2.2] and [Quest's Funnel Web Analyzer].  Parsing software is nice when a group of these text files bloat up to 1GB+ in a single day – as in my situation.

Microsoft’s Log Parser is a tool that allows you to query the log files using a command line interface and a SQL-like language (see “Examples” in the image below) to parse the files.

Unfortunately, Quest’s Funnel Web Analyzer did not work for me.  I tried using numerous Sharepoint generated log files but received the same error each time.  There could be a setting I’m overlooking, but as of the time of this post, it did not work for me.

Generally, where are Sharepoint Log files located?
Rai’s post correctly explained that the Sharepoint log files are located here:
[SysDrive]:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS\
